So as some of the world's most beautiful women make those final pre-show preparations, FEMAIL spoke to
four nutritionists to find out how you can eat like a model from the comfort of your own home - no kale
required.We have rounded up fashion week diet tips from eight of the most in-demand models, to show
how they can work for you.
KENDALL JENNER  ..'I usually start my day off with a cup of detox tea,' Kendall, 20, says.
'I have like 12 cups a day.'
MIRANDA KERR ...Miranda, claims she hasn't had a single sick day in her whole career, and credits her good
health to a daily mix of supplements and probiotics - as well as yoga, hiking and resistance training.
There is a strong correlation between gut health and the outward appearance of your skin, according to
nutritionist Cassandra Barns; making probiotics a great addition to your diet.
ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO...One of the longest-serving Victoria's Secret models, Brazilian beauty Alessandra
is something of a catwalk veteran - and credits her enviable figure to quitting carbs and sugar.
Speaking of the gruelling build-up to big shows, the 35-year-old told Allure: 'I cut the carbs and the sugar,
and I eat protein, but I don't know whether cheese is considered a carb.'
One of the easiest ways to stop sugar cravings is to increase you're the amount of protein in your diet, says
Lily Soutter, a nutritionist and weight loss expert.
'Protein is key to balancing blood sugar, which is essential for suppressing carb
and sugar cravings,' she explains.
'Eat more lean meats, fish, nuts and seeds, tofu, tempeh, avocado, cold-pressed oils, beans and pulses,
natural yoghurt, eggs, nut and seed butters.'
If you're keen to up your protein levels but are sticking to a vegetarian or vegan diet, a protein powder
could be your best option.
Cassandra recommends trying Sunflower Protein Powder - which contains minerals including iron, zinc and
potassium to help support the muscles and nerves, and energy release from foods.

salad that I could eat every day.'
If you love a burger just as much as Gigi, you can still take steps to make sure your meal is the healthiest it
can be, Shona explains.'Add a simple green salad as a side dish for a tasty yet healthy meal,' she says. 'I
wouldn't order a burger that contained too much cheese and mayo, as these can up the calories.
'Always ask for any sauces to be served on the side so you have control over the amount you use.'
Shona cautions: 'If you must go for fries, opt for sweet potato fries, which don't affect your blood sugar
levels as much. This will help avoid that energy slump some people feel after a meal.'
LILY ALDRIDGE  ...One of the most straightforward ways to get your skin and
health back on track is to adopt a vegetarian diet.
Models including Lily Aldrige, Hilary Rhoda and Karolina Kurkova all use vegetarian delivery services to
ensure they have fresh, organic meals right on their doorstep. And if Sports Illustrated star Lily's ultra-lean
physique is anything to go by, it can work wonders.
Although cutting out meat like 30-year-old Lily may not be an appealing prospect, many people are well
suited to a vegetarian diet according to Shona.'The worst vegetarian is a poorly educated one,' she says.
'Many people will suit a vegetarian diet. It is especially recommended for those who are described as
"acidic" or 'inflammatory', as a vegetarian diet, if done well, can help to alkalise the body.'
She recommends filling up with pulses - like lentils, peas and beans - as 'they're packed with protein and
complex carbohydrates including plenty of fibre, calcium, iron, vitamins and precious minerals.'

Foods to Eat
Use organic fruits and vegetables as they have less pollutants and chemicals. Organic food also has a higher nutritional content than non-organic commercialized produce.

Basically your diet should mostly consist of juiced, raw, frozen, or lightly steamed fruits and veggies. Corn should be avoided, white potatoes can be eaten only in moderation. Eating a variation each day will
ensure you are getting enough vitamins and keep this diet as interesting as possible.

Foods to Avoid
Here is a brief list of foods to avoid while on this plan. To get the full detoxifying effects, stick to the diet and be sure that you don't cheat!

Dairy and animal products
Bread, pasta, grains, cereal
Chocolate
Nuts
Sauces
Pickled vegetables or canned fruit
Alcohol and cigarettes
Coffee and tea (except green and herbal)

Meal Plans
Breakfast
Variations of fruit or fruit puree are great for breakfast. They are nutritious, filling and the natural sugars will give you energy to get through the morning.

To make a fruit puree, cut up your fruit and place in a pot on the stove with a small amount of water. Cover and leave it on a low heat until the fruit is soft. Now just throw it in the blender and add a squeeze
of fresh lemon to taste. I also like to add a little cinnamon.

My favorite blends contain apples, plums, nectarines, pears and berries, but really anything goes. You can also mix it up a bit by using your blender to achieve different consistencies.

Lunch & Dinner
For your main two meals its important to keep calories low but nutrition high. A vegetable puree soup is the answer. This will give you energy to get through the day and all the nutrients you need.

Cut up your vegetables, add approximately one cup of vegetable stock, and cover on a low heat until the vegetables are soft. Now throw it in the blender and spice it up with a raw clove of garlic or jalapeño
pepper (only a little as it's very spicy!). I also like to add cilantro and a little olive oil.

I like to experiment with different vegetables for this soup. Great ideas are spinach and broccoli, collard greens, zucchini, onion, carrots and sweet potatoes. Beans also make a great addition. I like to use
chickpeas but be sure they are organic.

Desserts & Snacks
This diet can sometimes leave you feeling hungry (it wouldn't be a diet if it didn't!), so its important to have some filling snacks around for when you need a boost.

Fruit smoothies are a great options for dessert or a snack between meals. You need to buy packs of frozen organic fruits from your supermarket. These lock all the goodness into the fruit and are very
convenient. I actually find that frozen bananas taste much better in a smoothie than fresh ones so I peel ripe bananas and put them in a Ziploc bag in the freezer.

Just add ice and a little water, then blend away! I like blends of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and banana. Its really up to you to find a few combinations that you love. Be creative!

Freshly squeezed juices are very detoxifying and a great way to get some condensed nutrition into your body. Fresh juice is also packed full of enzymes which are fundamental in maintaining good health
and preventing disease.

Some ideas for recipes - try playing around with these super-healthy ingredients. Cucumbers, apples, carrot, ginger, garlic, beet and broccoli.

Don't forget to drink Green Tea. This is so effective as a diet aid because it increases your metabolism and reduces your appetite. It has also been used for more than 4000 years in Chinese medicine, to cure
ailments ranging from headaches to depression.



CALORIE RESTRICTION DIETING..
As a model I've tried each and every one of the diets covered on this website through the years, but calorie restriction diet has become my favorite. I love the way that it has enabled me to permanently
formulate a lifestyle around low calorie, high volume healthy natural foods.
Calorie Restriction: Basics
Foundation
Reducing calories to lose weight - a scientific formula based on plenty of research studies and sound evidence.

"Less Calories In = Less Weight On"

Scientists estimate that 1lb of fat is equivalent to 3500 calories. By creating a deficit each day of 500 in your calorie expenditure, you should see a one pound weight loss each week. This is the recommended
amount for safe and sustainable dieting.

In addition to reducing your calorie intake, burn another 250-500 a day through exercise and you can lose 1/2-1 pounds more per week. Muscle is very metabolically active, with a higher calorie expenditure
than fat. In fact, building or maintaining muscle will make a considerable difference to your body's metabolism and fat storage.

Calorie restriction has been shown to improve health, reduce aging, reduce blood pressure and have a host of other benefits! You see, overeating puts stress on your body by making your organs work
harder. Over a lifetime the cumulative stress of years of big meals can really take a toll on your body. Use calorie restriction for a healthy, slim, and well functioning body free from illness.
Just count the calories and eat less of everything! There's no real restriction on the types of food you eat, but just remember to keep watching those calories!

A calorie restricted diet comprises mainly of fruits, vegetables and low-calorie proteins. This controls calorie consumption, ensures nutrition and hydrates the body.

Models need sufficient protein to maintain healthy skin, hair and nails. Good low-calorie sources of protein are beans, chicken or turkey (without the skin), water-packed tuna, steamed/baked fish, egg whites,
low fat yogurt and milk.It takes a while to learn the calorific content of foods, but its well worth it. Ask any model how many calories there are in a meal and he/she will tell you. Just by knowing this, you will
actually find yourself turning down high calorie foods without even thinking about it.

If you need to fill up but are restricting calories, here are some of my favorite snacks:

Low calorie Jell-O
Thin crisps with sliced banana
Protein bars (Zone and Luna bars - great chocolate substitutes!)
Popcorn
Bowl of cherries
Low-calorie yogurt or pudding cup
Calorie Restriction: Pros
By putting an emphasis on high volume, low calorie foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low calorie meats such as poultry and seafood, this diet is nutrient rich.
The diet is easy to understand, and there is little restriction on the types of food you can eat.
Calorie restriction is a light diet that doesn't overburden your digestive system - you won't feel over-full and sluggish.
If you do end up cheating with a high-calorie junk food snack, that's fine. Just be sure to restrict your calories for the rest of the day.
