Take care of yourself, and change how you think about things with positive thinking.
Those two concepts seem so simple, but actually accomplishing them can be challenging. So I've come up with some easy-to-follow
tips that'll help you achieve both, because they are crucial to weight loss.
Just try one of the tips each day this week, and before you know it, you'll be making yourself a priority and shifting into positive
thinking when it comes to weight loss...
Restructure your thoughts
Some people view weight loss as punishment, but it's one of the best things you can do for yourself. Reducing your weight to
recommended levels lowers your risk for developing a chronic disease, and may improve your health if you already have one. While
weight loss may not improve every aspect of your life, it will help you more easily enjoy some of life's most precious moments, like
playing with your kids or walking through scenic areas without gasping for breath.
The way you think affects how you feel, which affects your behaviors. So instead of focusing on the less-appealing aspects of weight
loss like eating less, look forward to its benefits, and your positive thinking will likely inspire you to make changes.
Place yourself at the top of your priority list
How many times have you thought that you don't have time to take care of yourself because you're busy caring for others or have too
much work to do? But the truth is that if you don't take care of yourself, you might not be able to take care of those most important to
Take time to take care of yourself mentally and physically. One way to ensure that you have time for yourself is to make yourself a
priority. This may mean that you have to say "no" when asked to take on a new task, or ask a friend or a family member to help you do
something. Treat your health as an important responsibility—take care of it and you'll ensure that you're well enough to do everything
in your life.
Make a list of things you enjoy doing but rarely do
Brainstorm a list of things that are not related to food and that are relatively easy to do (e.g., soak in the bathtub, go to a movie, read a
book, listen to music, leave work on time, etc). The idea is to develop a list of non-food alternatives to nurture, comfort, and take care
of yourself (a.k.a., self-care). In addition, these ideas can be used to comfort or distract yourself when faced with an upsetting
situation or dealing with a craving.
Make exercise fun
Exercise shouldn't be a chore. To make the experience more pleasurable, select an activity you actually enjoy. Create a pleasant
environment (e.g., exercise in a park, working out to your favorite music, exercise while watching a movie or your favorite TV show,
etc.). Enlist support. Schedule an appointment with a personal trainer or exercise with friends. You may even want to set up a friendly
"win-win" competition. Add variety to your weight loss routine by mixing things up with different activities during the week.
Practice constructive self-talk
Suppose you planned on having one slice of pizza and no dessert at a party but ended up eating two slices and a giant piece of cake;
what would be the first thing you would say to yourself? "I blew it again. I will never lose weight! I'm such a failure," or "I ate more than
I had hoped today, but it's only one day"? If the first thought sounds like you, give yourself a break.
Is it true that you you'll never lose weight because you ate a little more than you intended on one day? Of course not. Since many
automatic thoughts tend to be irrational, it's important to learn to counter them with positive thinking. Rational thoughts are more likely
to lead to feelings that support constructive behaviors than irrational thoughts that often lead to feelings of frustration, hopelessness,
and behaviors that do not support healthy weight loss goals.
Protein: When we eat plant, dairy and animal proteins, they are digested and synthesized into important Amino Acids, which affect our
brain chemistry and emotions. Serotonin is one of these amino acids that is well known for creating a feeling of well-being. Fish, Eggs,
lean meats (Poultry, Beef, Pork, etc), Yogurt, Milk, Cheese, Beans and Legumes are all high in protein. I make sure to have some
protein with every meal.
B-Vitamins: There are lots of B-vitamins, and most of them are very good for reducing feelings of stress and providing increased
energy. I take daily all-around B-complex vitamin supplements, but particularly B-6 and B-12. Foods that are high in B-vitamins include
poultry, seafood, whole grains, legumes (beans, lentils), potatoes and bananas.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: A diet high in Omega-3 Fatty Acids is known to improve mood. Omega-3′s are prevalent in fatty fish (like Salmon
and Tuna), and in “pastured eggs” from Chickens who are allowed to roam freely outdoors and eat grass and bugs. You can often find
these at your local farmers market. If you do not have access to these foods, there are many good Omega-3 supplements on the
market. I take a twice daily supplement of at least 1 gram of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, including the EPA and DHA forms, from http://www.
SwansonVitamins.com. Trader Joe’s also carries a high quality Omega-3 supplement.
Vitamin D and Sunlight: Vitamin D is produced naturally by your body when you are exposed to sunlight and it’s no wonder that people
who live in sunny places tend to be “happier” than people who live in dark or overcast places. Unfortunately, many of us don’t get
enough sunshine where we live to produce all of the Vitamin D we need to be happy. When I lived in Seattle, my nutritionist told me
that most people who live north of the San Francisco Bay Area don’t get enough sunshine and should be taking Vitamin D supplements
– about 5,000-10,000 IU per day, depending on the person and where they live. She recommended that I take Vitamin D3 droplets,
which are super inexpensive at most vitamin supplement stores. I get mine online at SwansonVitamins.com. Can’t beat their prices.
These days, I’m back across the bay from San Francisco, which often has cloudy/foggy summers. So even people in San Francisco
can benefit from taking Vitamin D supplements. Another good source of Vitamin D is mushrooms. I love mushrooms, and buy locally
grown mushrooms at Berkeley Bowl and farmers markets.
Probiotics: By now everyone has heard that “good bacteria,” like that found in yogurt, can aid in your digestion and help you get the
most benefit from all the nutrition from the foods we eat. They also help your mood. So I eat about a cup of 2% fat plain Greek Yogurt
with berries every morning. Greek Yogurt is strained, so it is thicker and less runny that regular yogurts. Plus, it contains more
protein and calcium than regular yogurt for the same volume. Most yogurt contains plenty of probiotics, but if you don’t like yogurt or
cannot eat dairy, you can easily find Probiotic supplements at your neighborhood vitamin store, grocery store or Trader Joe’s.
Nuts and Selenium: Nuts are high in unsaturated fatty acids such as Omega 3′s, fiber, and Selenium, which helps regulate the Thyroid
gland and promotes the immune system. Nuts also help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and protect the heart. Nuts with high selenium
content include Brazil nuts, Sunflower seeds and Walnuts. Seafood, mussels and oysters are also high in Selenium. Instead of
reaching for processed snacks like Pretzels or Potato Chips, try eating some healthy nuts instead.
Dark Chocolate: Dark Chocolate contains theobromine, an alkaloid found in the Cacao plant. The higher percent of Cacao in your
chocolate bar, the higher the amount of theobromine. Theobromine is known to have a mild stimulant effect and also dilutes blood
vessels, which has the effect of lowering one’s blood pressure. Many people believe dark chocolate is an afrodisiac and helps
increase sexual desire. I don’t know if that’s been medically proven, but it’s certainly nice to think so. And it tastes good too! I like to
buy Trader Joe’s Pound Plus Dark Chocolate with Almonds. Yum!
Selzer Water with Fresh Lemon, Mint and/or Pickled Ginger: My favorite drink of choice these days is Selzer Water with fresh sliced
lemons, mint leaves, and/or pickled ginger – the kind that is served alongside sushi in Japanese restaurants. Selzer water is
carbonated water without added sodium, so it is healthier for you than Club Soda. The aroma of lemon slices or citrus always lift my
mood. And adding pickled ginger, which can be found in ethnic and Japanese groceries, adds a zingy and slightly sour taste, without
the sweetness found in most ginger ales. Try it sometime!
Green Tea: Green tea is chock full of anti-oxidants and also has some caffeine – but less caffeine per cup than coffee – so you get the
energy boost without the jitters. A hot cup of green tea can also be relaxing and help improve your focus and concentration. I always
feel more productive after drinking a cup of hot or iced green tea. My favorites are Jasmine Green Tea and fruit-flavored green teas
such as Mango Green Tea. I make a pot of green tea in the morning, and drink a hot cup, then pour the rest in a pitcher to drink
casually throughout the rest of the day.
It was 1994 when the idea to freeze water and observe it with microscope came upon me. With this method, I was convinced that I
should be able to see something like snow crystals.
After two months of trial and error, this idea bore fruit. The beautifully shining hexagonal crystals were created from the invisible
world. My staff at the laboratory and I were absorbed in it and began to do many researches.
At first, we strenuously observed crystals of tap water, river water, and lake water. From the tap water we could not get any beautiful
crystals. We could not get any beautiful ones from rivers and lakes near big cities, either. However, from the water from rivers and
lakes where water is kept pristine from development, we could observe beautiful crystals with each one having its own uniqueness.
The observation was done in various ways:
1.Observe the crystal of frozen water after showing
letters to water
2.Showing pictures to water
3.Playing music to water
4.Praying to water
In all of these experiments, distilled water for hospital usage produced by the same company was used. Since it is distilled twice, it
can be said that it is pure water.
The result was that we always observed beautiful crystals after giving good words, playing good music, and showing, playing, or
offering pure prayer to water. On the other hand, we observed disfigured crystals in the opposite situation. Moreover, we never
observed identical crystals.
I published these results as photograph collections: “Messages from Water 1” (1999), “Messages from Water 2” (2002), “Messages
from Water 3” (2004), and “Messages from Water 4” (2008). (All of them are published from Hado Kyoiku-Sha.)
Then in November 2001, “Water Knows the Answer” (Sunmark Publishing) was published not as a photograph collection but as
explanatory book. Many of you may know that these books have become bestseller not only in Japan but also rather in overseas.
It is “beauty” if I were asked about the selection criteria of crystals.
This world is filled with wonders and mysteries that get more incomprehensible if we try to think of a reason. In a familiar situation, for
example, why do dogs exist and why do cats exist? Why do mice exist and why do snakes exist? Why are there cherry blossom trees
and why are there willow trees? What is a human being in the first place? As such, there are so many incomprehensible things that
we cannot understand at all.
Thus, except for some of truly basic things, no one disagrees that there are still so many unknowns. Probably we understand 3%. in
other words, I think 97% is unknown. The reason why the number is 3% is that the research of geneticists revealed the level of our
DNA activation is 3%.
I believe the original idea of creation by the creator of this universe was “the pursuit of beauty.” Everything is combination of energetic
vibration. As vibration resonates, it makes some tangible objects.
Combination of non-resonating vibration can result in destructive energy, and nothing can be created out of it. When some vibration
and the other resonate each other, it always creates beautiful design. Thus, most of the Earth is covered with beautiful nature.
That is why scientists, philosophers, and religionists pursue for unknown facts. Is it presumptuous to suggest them taking paths with
“the pursuit of beauty” in mind as a means to confirm their right paths?
There are approximately 7 billion people exist on this Earth now. I think there is one common standard we share although our skin
colors, languages, religious beliefs may be different. I think that is the standard of “beauty”.
However, the deep pursuit of beauty is slightly different depending on experience, age, and personality. That is why many types of
wonderful artists who pursue the secrets of beauty always appear in the human history one after another.
Therefore, the photograph of crystals is neither science nor religion. I hope it is enjoyed as a new type of art. Nevertheless, the world it
shows is truth, and there is no doubt that many messages essential to our lives are hidden in it.

|As you can tell, the water stamped with positive words is far more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing than that stamped with
dark, negative phrases. If you are reading this article on this particular website, you probably already knew that positive and negative
thinking have a major impact on the surrounding environment. That concept is relatively easy to grasp, but this extremely tangible
evidence of it is astounding. If the words and thoughts that come out of us have this effect on water crystals, it’s amazing to think of
what kind of effect they have on the people and events that come into our lives.
